A major road improvement scheme is set to begin on Briar Way in Skegness, with £104,000 being spent on resurfacing and strengthening the carriageway.
Lincolnshire County Council has confirmed that work will take place between Sandbeck Avenue and Kennedy Avenue, with the main resurfacing scheduled for Wednesday, September 16 and Thursday, September 17.
Crews will then return on Wednesday, September 30 to carry out further joint-sealing work designed to protect the road and improve its long-term durability.
The scheme will involve removing and replacing the top 100mm of road material in two layers, creating a stronger surface designed to cope with everyday traffic.
All work is expected to take place between 7.30am and 5.30pm on weekdays, with no weekend working planned.
A signed diversion route will be in place while the works are underway, directing motorists via Sandbeck Avenue, Richmond Drive and Kennedy Avenue.
Access to homes and businesses will be maintained, although drivers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys while the work is taking place.
The Briar Way project forms part of Lincolnshire County Council’s wider programme of concrete road improvements and is the final phase of a 13-site scheme.
Councillor David East, executive member for highways and transport at Lincolnshire County Council, said the work should provide a smoother and quieter road surface, as well as improved skid resistance.
He also acknowledged that the roadworks may cause some inconvenience and thanked residents, businesses and motorists for their patience while the scheme is completed.
Residents and motorists travelling through the area on September 16, 17 and 30 should therefore expect some disruption and allow additional time for journeys.
