Live shark found on Ingoldmells beach as Coastguard called to scene

A live shark found washed up on Ingoldmells beach prompted a Coastguard response, according to reports.

The shark was discovered on the Lincolnshire coast near Skegness, with a fishing hook reportedly found in its mouth.

Lincolnshire Live reported on Friday, September 4 that the animal was still alive when it was found and that the Coastguard was called following the discovery.

The circumstances surrounding how the shark came to be on the beach have not yet been officially confirmed, including whether it had recently been caught by an angler or had become stranded for another reason.

Details of the shark's species have also not been publicly confirmed.

Ingoldmells sits immediately north of Skegness and is one of the busiest stretches of the Lincolnshire coastline, attracting thousands of visitors during the summer season.

HM Coastguard responds to emergencies and incidents around the UK's coastline. Members of the public who spot a person, vessel or animal-related incident at the coast which presents an immediate danger should call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Further information about the Ingoldmells incident, including what happened to the shark after it was found, has not yet been confirmed publicly.

Skegness Scoop will update this story if further details become available.
