Inquest opens into death of 21-year-old woman following alleged Skegness bar altercation

An inquest has formally opened into the death of a 21-year-old woman following an alleged altercation outside a bar in Skegness.

Minnie Amber Jarrett, from the Mansfield area, died in hospital on August 15 after an incident on Grand Parade during the early hours of Sunday, August 9.

Lincolnshire Police previously said Ms Jarrett was allegedly punched during an altercation outside Buster's Bar at around 1am.

She was taken to hospital following the incident but died six days later.

An inquest into her death was opened at the Myle Cross Centre in Lincoln on Thursday, September 3.

The Greater Lincolnshire Coroners Service officially listed Minnie Amber Jarrett among the inquests scheduled for that date.

According to evidence reported from the opening hearing, a post-mortem examination recorded the medical cause of death as a head injury.

The inquest has subsequently been adjourned because criminal proceedings are under way.

Rennforde Fletcher, 53, of St Ann's Hill, Nottingham, has been charged with manslaughter in connection with Ms Jarrett's death.

Lincolnshire Police said Fletcher appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on August 20 and was released on conditional bail ahead of a plea hearing scheduled for September 9.

No plea has yet been reported and the charge remains an allegation unless and until proved in court.

Police have previously appealed for witnesses who may have information about the incident.

Officers said Ms Jarrett's family are being supported by specially trained officers.

The coronial proceedings will remain adjourned while the criminal case progresses.
